Referrals, Fees & Rebates
Healthy Hearing & Balance Care is a private clinic so full payment is expected on the day of the services.
Rebates from Medicare and some private health funds may apply depending on eligibility and appropriate referrals. Please call us for specific information on fees.
A medical referral is mandatory to attract any Medicare rebate.
Pensioner and concession health care card holders may be bulk billed and/or attract reduced fees upon the appropriate referral and proof of eligibility.
Medicare
A regular referral from a GP or Medical Specialist attracts a Medicare rebate on most audiology tests.
A regular referral from a GP is valid for 12 months but from a medical specialist is only valid for 3 months from the date of the first consultation.
Chronic Disease Management (CDM) referrals or Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) referrals from a GP attract a Medicare rebate on audiology and physiotherapy consultations.
A CDM referral is valid for 12 months and has a limited number of up to 5 visits as specified on the form by the referring GP.
Private Health Funds
Audiology and physiotherapy consultation fees, hearing aids and cochlear implants may attract a rebate depending on the specific fund and level of membership cover. Click here for a comparison table of health fund rebates.
HSP (Hearing Services Program) (download application to Hearing Services Program here)
Eligible pensioners are entitled to a range of subsidies which can be used for audiology services, assistive listening devices or fully - or partially - subsidised hearing aids. An optional annual fee provides ongoing hearing aid repairs, services, batteries and spare parts.
NDIS (National Disability Insurance Services)
Self-managed NDIS participants are charged at the time of service provision and then claim a full refund from NDIA.
Eligible age pensioners, Australian Defence Force (ADF) members, war veterans (DVA) and NDIS participants qualify for a selected range of free of charge hearing aids and services.
Cochlear Implants and other surgically implantable hearing devices are fully reimbursed by private health funds depending on the level of cover.
Payment
EFTPOS and direct bank transfers are the preferred form of payment.
